Sustainable development is a complex process based on conscientious consideration and use of natural resources that aims to maintain natural resources in their entirety in order to leave natural resources for future generations to such an extent that they can continue a satisfying life on Earth as the present generation lives. By balancing and caring for the functioning of economic, social and environmental dimensions, sustainable development has a key goal - caring for the well-being of humanity. The subject of reasearch of this diploma thesis is the analysis of the current tourist offer in the Town of Samobor and by examining the attitudes of the local residents to gain insight into the possibility of implementing sustainable tourism in the Town of Samobor. Also, it was crucial to determine how tourism, encouraged by sustainable development, can increase the satisfaction of the residents but also the number of visitors, excursionists or tourists of the Town of Samobor. First, the concepts of defining sustainable development in general and its presence in Croatia through examples of sustainable destinations were touched upon, then the analysis of the Town of Samobor from the tourist aspect and SWOT analysis to get a better insight into the Samobor. Then, based on a survey questionnaire on the attitudes of the local residents about sustainable tourism in the Town of Samobor, she wanted to know the possibility for interest and its implementation. Finally, through primary and secondary research, analysis of sustainable development and sustainable tourism, analysis of the Town of Samobor and its offer, and through examination of attitudes, future perspectives and guidelines for future development of the Town of Samobor as possible sustainable tourist destination.
