Today, waste is one of the main problems with which is facing the population of the 21st century, and it is inadequate disposal brings with it major problems that affect the quality of peoples life. This is one of the main reasons for wanting to explore this topic more deeply and try to explain in more detail the situation with which is facing the population today, especially in tourism, respectively in the hotel industry and to explore the core of the problems of inadequate waste management. Tourism is an economic activity that is very dynamic and involves the movement of a large number of people. By moving and overloading the capacity of the destination, large quantities of waste are generated that need to be adequately disposed of so as not to affect the quality of the environment of the destination and the quality of life of the local population on that area. In order to improve the situation regarding waste management in the hotel industry, it is necessary to apply sustainable development in it`s management, apropos management in order to avoid unwanted changes in the environment that could ultimately have a negative impact on the quality of the hotel offer. This paper aims to point out the large hotel companies in the destination Poreč, as well as ways of waste management in it. Furthermore, the aim is to investigate the attitude of hotel companies in terms of waste management in the destination, as well as their orientation towards sustainable development and implementation of sustainable elements in hotel business to reduce the harmful effects of waste in the environment, attracting eco-conscious guests and standing out in the competitive tourism market.
