In order to achieve top sports results, numerous sacrifices in everyday life are inevitable in a professional athlete’s life. In addition to training several times a day throughout the year, they must eat adequately and get enough sleep. Nutrition, rest and recovery are directly responsible for their careers and achievements. When traveling, athletes must provide adequate nutrition, good sports infrastructure and quality accommodation. Athletes cannot allow improper diet, so they must provide a special catering offer tailored to athletes when traveling. Catering offer adapted to sports specifics is a form of catering offer because this type of catering offer should be balanced with the nutritional requirements of athletes, or with a certain type of sports activities. Depending on the type of sport and training that athletes do, their menu should be created. The aim of this final paper is to give an insight into the nutrition of athletes and to analyse the catering offer for athletes in the Republic of Croatia and Slovenia. The adjustment of the catering offer adapted to athletes is shown on the examples of the Hotel Galerija, Daruvarske toplice terme Ptuj, Lječilište Radenci and Sava Hotel Bled. Recently, there are more and more tourist destinations focused on specific tourist facilities, they try to meet the needs of specific tourists. In this sense, sports tourism is increasingly seen as an opportunity to raise the competitive advantages of the destination or tourist facility in the destination.
