The waste management system has become an increasingly common issue in people's daily lives in recent years.The correct way of waste management can prevent further pollution of natural resources and human health, and therefore can ensure a better life for local people, flora and fauna and further climate change that we face on a daily basis. Developing Member States have created a smart waste management system and a model to be guided by European Union legislation that has set certain principles and hierarchy of waste that germany, the Netherlands and Denmark must lead to are examples of good practices that should present their waste management system to other Member States in order to prevent further unnecessary disposal and waste generation in a proper and quality way and to encourage recycling and re-recycling and reuse use of the waste itself. The Republic of Croatia bases the waste management system according to the Waste Management Plan and all utilities are obliged to be guided according to this plan and according to the legislation and principles of the European Union.Since the Republic of Croatia is a tourist destination, the survey will show the impact of tourist arrivals on the amount of waste in the entire country and Kvarner towns. On the territory of the Republic of Croatia, tourist departures have as much as 57,7% influence on the change in the amount of waste.On the other hand, a smaller research area was taken in the city of Opatija, Lovran and Moscenica Draga, where tourist departures have a 99.7% impact on the change in the amount of waste.Since these are places by the sea located in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, it can be concluded that in places that are covered by more tourist season, more municipal waste is created.
